MY STORY

I am an interior designer, but more importantly a lover of design. I believe that your space you live in should be a sanctuary and I love helping others find and create this joy in their homes.

I have always had this deep entrepreneurial spirit within me. I have been starting small side businesses for as long as I can remember. I have done everything from starting an online wedding vendor reference site back in 2008 (I know.. I should have stuck with it! I could have been theknot.com or zola.com, but it's ok, I have let it go) to consulting for short term rental beginners who are embarking on their business for the first time.

This spirit must come from generations past in my family. When I think back about what they accomplished, starting from opening a small grocery market that become a busy catering business to a beach (yes, an actual beach), this set the tone for more ideas to come to life within the family. The successful event space and catering business continued and a florals design business also

thrived for years. These businesses were all made possible because of a deep love for business, a tireless work ethic and creativity. Knowing that I wanted to embark on a new business endeavor, I enrolled in an Interior Design program from The Interior Design Institute. It was a year long journey where I was tested on every level.

Today, I am so thankful for what my family engrained in me and what my personal and professional experiences have taught me. I am so grateful that I have an opportunity to share these new passions with you all. I genuinely feel inspired by this work and each day that I get to work on a project, it feels like time goes by in an instant because it simply doesn't feel like work at all.

Projects + More Projects

The before and afters of this townhouse are some of my most proud moments. At the time, I was single and really having to paint every corner and bang every nail myself. And, I had to fix my own mistakes. Trust me there were plenty.

My Dad and Mom don't live in Vermont so I didn't even have the back up crutch that I so wished I could have. But, in the end, that's what really got me here today. Learning and doing on my own.

These years really taught me so much about how to put together a cohesive home and start to nurture this creative side of myself.

Took on first BIG DIY

One of the first projects I did in the new townhouse was rip up the carpet from the stairs. It took nearly 4 weeks to complete this project, but oh so satisfying. I wanted to have a cleaner look and the carpet was worn and dingy.

I learned in this project that all good things take time and rushing doesn't usually bring you the best result. I was taking on a much bigger job that I had anticipated.

I also learned that being fearless and just starting and going for it was something that I had somehow engrained in me. It was just the start of what was going to be possible and unlocked my love and passion for home DIY and design.

Bought my first home

In 2016 I was fortunate enough to be able to buy my first home. It was a townhome here in Vermont and built in the early 90s. It had your basic construction grade materials and definitely some outdated style, lighting and flooring.

When I say it had some outdate style... we are talking a bathroom with taupe/pink shower enclosure, toilet and sink. And that was just one bathroom example! There were ceilings painted brown (and yes I know... brown is back, but this was not the brown we are all pining over today.

This is where I had to get creative to make this space my own and refresh the home to feel more modern. I really leaned into learning as a new home owner and my journey with DIY and design began here.

Stowe, Vermont

This was a major moment for me. I was able to purchase a short term rental property in Stowe, Vermont! I had been looking for a short time and I was so fortunate to land on a 800 sqft 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath condo super close to our ski mountain. While it was a bit scary and I had not run a short term rental business before, I soon saw all the potential and really went for it.

I went to work putting my design touch on the interiors and it became a thriving short term rental property. I also became an AirBnB Ambassador for some time and supported others who were embarking on their journey with short term rental businesses.

Full Bathroom Remodel

This one was a long time coming... and the primary bathroom in my townhome needed a total overhaul. I embarked on a 9 week solo journey where I completely renovated the entire bathroom including floors, plumbing and lighting. The timing was perfect as we all entered into the pandemic and I really needed something to keep my sanity while being at home so much

I knew that I had to stay on a budget and I definitely got creative with this one. In fact, this total overhaul was around $3000. It was so labor intensive but the design vision was there from the start and I didn't give up. I learned so much from this one project. I was the project manager, the designer, the sub-contractor all in one.

It's a BIG year...

We had the best start to 2023! Jono and I were married on Kiawah, South Carolina in the Spring. We had an incredible experience and I loved every minute of the design and planning process. Our planner, Pop the Bubbly Events, was the perfect fit and help us create our dream wedding.

If I am totally honest, this passion of design and quality goods was ignited after our honeymoon in Italy. I loved everything about that trip. Of course the food, but the architecture, the clothes, the art, the quality of goods, and I could go on.

In early October of 2023, I finally graduated from Australian based interior design school with a Certificate in Interior Design from The Interior Design Institute. I have spent over a year learning and building a stronger foundation around interior design principles. The experience through IDI was really impactful and gave me the confidence I needed to take my passions and previous experiences and marry them with this additional education.

New Home, New Love

In 2022, I said goodbye to the beloved townhome that I had poured my heart and soul into. It was for good reason and for some exciting new milestones that had happened in my personal life.

I had a new found love at the end of 2021 and we were consolidating and moving into his home in June of 2022. But this new era unlocked even more opportunity to build a life together, create and update our new space and make so many more memories.

In October of 2022 another major life event, we got engaged! As you can imagine, I was thrilled and I was so ready to thrive when it came to the planning and design of our big day. We decided early that we would not have a long engagement and were planning a destination wedding in the Spring of 2023.
